I interrupt the normal tits, ass and all things nerd to bring you this tale of a down syndrome sports writer shitting on Brett Favre. Yes, that's right, shitting on Brett Favre. The title of the article is "Overhyped: Favre didn't deliver in second half of career". You will see where this goes in a minute. Sal Paol "I know nothing about football, or sports" antonio goes on to say in the article, "The truth is, Favre did little over the past decade to earn the gushing praise heaped upon him by our fawning brethren in the media." What the fuck is he talking about? You know what, I will explain in more detail the article and then provide my rant about how fucking stupid this is. Sal the Retard goes on to say that Brett wasn't even the best QB in Packers history. Who did he say was the best? Bart Starr. Wait, didn't he play 40 years ago? I am not saying that Bart was not a great QB, he is one of the best. Paolantonio says, "Favre isn't even the greatest quarterback in the history of the Packers. It's not even close. Bart Starr won five NFL championships -- four more than Favre -- and retired as the NFL's most accurate passer. " Wait again, wasn't that 40 years ago? Wasn't it a different game back then? Apparently, Sal is under the same impression as other idiots who follow football who think you can compare players from different eras. Comparing Brett Favre to Bart Starr is like comparing my great grandfather to my father. Comparing Brett to Tom Brady or Peyton Manning would be justifiable. It was a completely different game 40 years ago. Look at Terry Bradshaws' stats, he wouldn't even be a top 20 QB now. But I don't compare him to today's QB's beacause I am not an idiot. Joe Namath had horrible stats, but one Super Bowl victory...he is a legend because of that. So should we stop keeping track of stats so we can compare the greats QB's by the amount of Super Bowl rings they have?
Paolantonio continues to compare Favre to Starr. I do give him credit for at least picking a former Packer, but I still believe he is an ass. "But Starr still is the NFL record holder with a 104.8 career playoff passer rating, nearly 20 points higher than Favre's. That wasn't Vince Lombardi or Ray Nitschke throwing those passes for Starr, whose career postseason passer rating, by the way, is 38 points higher than Johnny Unitas", says Paolantonio. What the fuck does that mean really? He is talking about Starr and Favre, but he feels the need to bring up Lombardi, Nitschke(who was a defensive player, not sure how he fits into the argument) and Unitas. What is he trying to say, that Favre had Mike Holmgren or Mike Sherman pass for him? Doesn't make sense. Again, Bart played in a different era then Favre. Put Starr into the league now and he would get picked apart. The game has evolved into different defensive schemes, this part of his argument is completely retarded. I will not even comment on it.
He goes on to talk about Starr and Favres' playoff record. Favre was 12-10, Starr was 9-1. "Favre's career playoff record was 12-10. Starr's was 9-1 -- without the benefit of wild-card games. Favre threw 28 interceptions in 22 playoff games." What does "without the benefit of a wild card game" mean? I'm not sure that wild card games are even relavent. How is having a wild card game a benefit? Maybe Sal should explain that. He mentioned earlier that Starr has 5 Championships to Favre's one. The real stat should be Starr has two Super Bowl wins, Brett has one. Favre did not have Lombardi as his coach. He won one Super Bowl with Mike Holmgren. Did anyone expect them to make the playoffs with Mike fucking Sherman? No, but Brett got them there, he carried the team...he just didn't have the help.
This next quote angered me to no end, but I am sure it will anger Keinada just as much. Sal says, "Indeed, a decade after his last moments of glory, the football hype machine continues to paint Favre as a hallowed icon of Americana, a symbol of all that is right with sports, a Wild West gun-slinging good ol' boy. There's Brett on the farm! There's Brett with his family! There's Brett on the cover of Sports Illustrated! There's Brett throwing another overtime interception!" Listen, the guy has a lot of interceptions, I understand that. But he wasn't afraid to throw the deep pass or the pass to a receiver with three defenders on him. He was on the field each and every game to win. He didn't play for records, fame or money...he played to win Super Bowls. He is the greatest field general to ever play the game. Could Bart Starr take a completely F.U.B.A.R. play and turn it into a touchdown, long completion or a first down? No. He is remembered for his goal line QB sneak, considered one of the greatest plays in NFL history. So when Sal said that Starr is underappreciated and overlooked, he is wrong. He was part of the greatest games ever played....I wasn't alive back then and even I know what happened in that game. Starr sneaked into the endzone to win the game. A QB sneaks into the endzone now and its "Big deal". Wat an ass.
This just proves my point that ALL sportswriters know nothing about sports. They just talk out of their ass and write it down on paper. ESPN should be ashamed to even publish this article. Four days after his retirement press conference and someone decides to shit on a first ballot Hall of Famer? Absolutely no respect. Did Sal even watch the coverage of the press conference? Brett was obviously heart broken to retire, never to play the sport of football professionally. When Aikman or Elway or Marino retired, were any of them that upset? Wait, did they even have a press conference? I don't remember because I didn't watch it. Those goes couldn't hold a candle to Brett. Besides Minnesota Viking's fans, which Sal is obviously one of them, each and every NFL fan cried at least for a moment when Brett retired. He truely loved the game of football and you are going to try and take all of his accomplishments away from him? Fuck you Sal Paolantonio....go write about horse reacing.
