New NIN Album!

Nine Inch Nails has released their sixth full studio album, entitled Ghosts I-IV. This is actually a four-part, nine-track-a-piece set of EP's being released exclusively for online purchase. The first part, Ghosts I, was released on NIN's official website free of charge last week... and summarily crashed the site within the hour. This effort marks another step in frontman Trent Reznor's slow progression away from the commercial recording industry, an institution he has frequently railed against over the course of his career. The most remarkable thing about this release, however, is how closely it follows on the heels of Reznor's 2007 record, Year Zero, which itself was surrounded by substantial viral marketing and advertising.

I've yet to hear any of Ghosts, but I've yet to listen to a NIN album I didn't like. Reznor is one of those very few musicians who doesn't seem to produce half-assed work. In my opinion, the 1999 opus The Fragile is still one of the best records ever released. Combine that with the impeccable standard of its brethren, and you have one of the greatest musical acts of our time. So, in conclussion, go buy this album. I don't wanna hear any arguments from you, young man. You will eat all of your vegetables, finish your homework, and immediately listen to your Nine Inch Nails' records or you'll get no dessert.

P.S.: Never assume a girl will understand the romantic undertones of "We're In This Together Now" or "The Fragile" when you put them on a mix c.d. for her. While you might find the lyrics intensely poetic, she will most likely assume you are probably severely disturbed, and possibly violent.

"Smiling in their faces, while filling up the hole.
So many dirty little faces, in your filthy little, worn-out, broken down, see-through soul."
